Thrive Alpha Signal
A directional bias score (-100 to +100) that identifies asymmetric opportunity.
What Is the Thrive Alpha Signal?
The Thrive Alpha Signal (TAS) is a directional bias score from -100 to +100 that identifies where the asymmetric edge lies. Unlike TPS which measures magnitude of strength, TAS tells you which direction the alpha is pointing and how aggressively to lean.
Signal Labels
| Strong Long (+70 to +100) | Maximum bullish asymmetry. Multiple sources confirm directional edge to the upside. |
| Long (+30 to +69) | Favorable conditions for long positioning. Not extreme, but clearly tilted. |
| Neutral (-29 to +29) | No clear directional edge. Stay flat, reduce size, or wait for conviction. |
| Short (-69 to -30) | Conditions favor downside. Asymmetry tilted bearish. |
| Strong Short (-100 to -70) | Maximum bearish asymmetry. Strong conviction in downside edge. |
What Drives TAS
TAS is built from six alpha components, each measuring a different source of directional asymmetry:
Conviction Multiplier
Using TAS for Position Sizing
TAS is designed to scale naturally with position sizing frameworks. A TAS of +80 warrants more aggressive positioning than a TAS of +35. Many traders use TAS as a multiplier on their base position size — for example, taking 1.5x their normal size when TAS exceeds ±60, and half sizing when TAS is between ±15.
